Ikaria, Greece: Where People Live Longer Than You Do

Image
Maybe it’s the crystal blue waters and rocky shores against a mountainous backdrop, idyllic to any discerning traveler’s eye, or that the old simply forget to die, but Ikaria, Greece is like few places on this planet. With octogenarians who can boast being married for sixty-five years, and most of the community walking at least a few kilometers a day, there are a few immediately apparent hints as to why people outlive those in our own countries. Other secrets of the locals are harder to unearth. Image credit: National Geographic After all, Ikaria may look post-card perfect, but it isn’t much different than many other Greek isles, or for that matter, much of the Mediterranean. Ikaria is about 30 miles from the Turkish coast, but people here live at least a decade longer, on average, then anyone in Turkey, Monaco, Italy, Spain, France, or mainland Greece, let alone the U.S. or other industrialized nations. The many 100-plus residents aren’t just existing into their old-age, ...

347 Bee Species Dangerously Close to Extinction

Albert Einstein stated that if bees disappeared from the surface of the earth, the human race would follow in 4 short years. Of 4,337 native bee species in North American and Hawaii just researched, 347 are precariously close to full-stop extinction. No bees, no food, people. No morning coffee. No roses. No arugula for your salad. Bees pollinate 30 to 80 percent of our food crops, and 90 percent of wild plants and flowers. If you haven’t been concerned about the bees’ fight against herbicides, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals used in the industrial agricultural model it’s definitely time to take notice. In a report just released by the Center for Biological Diversity, scientists found that nearly one in four bee species is imperiled and at increasing risk of extinction . 347 bees species are close to extinction, but 700 species are in trouble . Kelsey Kopec, a native pollinator researcher at the Center for Biological Diversity and author of the study said, “The evidence is ...

I Was Sprayed With Insecticide Flying to Australia: Linked to Brain Tumors, Parkinson’s

Image
Last week I took a flight from California to Australia. After a long 14 hour flight, everyone stood up and eagerly anticipated leaving the plane. Instead of getting off, we were informed that the plane would be sprayed with a “non toxic” insecticide. I quickly grabbed my thick jacket, put my hood over my head, covered my face and made sure every breath I took was filtered through the jacket. Flight attendants walked up and down the isles, spraying the luggage bins and the passengers almost directly. I waited for about 10 minutes while they made us sit in the fumes. I heard a few people cough. When we finally got up to leave the plane, a flight attendant asked me if I was ok because I was covering my face and I said “of course, just avoiding breathing this, it’s toxic.” He matter of factly responded “it’s non toxic.” I replied “of course it’s toxic, everything that is an insecticide is toxic.” What I should have showed him is that flight attendants like him have gotten brain tum...

This Man is Selling Air in a Jar for a Breathtaking $250 Bucks

Image
It’s no joke. John Green, British ex-pat, is hawking “fresh mountain air” from the Swiss Alps online, stating, “the air in the mountains is like champagne [so] I decided I had better start selling it.” While it may be true that the air in the mountains of Switzerland is pristine, especially compared to cities like Beijing, New York, Mumbai, and others, Green’s desire to make a buck off of the sad state of the world’s environment is akin to the Nestle corporation trying to privatize water by extracting it and selling it back to citizens whom they stole it from, for thousands times it original cost. Green’s site says , “claim yours while stocks last.” He supposedly collects the air near a babbling mountain steam, and he’ll sell you some in three different sizes: a pint costs $97, a quart $167, and a 3/4 gallon jar will run you $247. He also suggests you put it in your freezer when it arrives, and open it for the “best experience.” Though Green states he plans to give 25% of the pr...

80 Students Removed From Class For Being Unvaccinated: Crossing the Line of Coercion

80 students were ordered out of class last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota because they didn’t provide evidence that they received vaccines. According to a local CBS News article: “Rochester Public School Board members voted last week to enforce a state law that requires students be immunized or be officially exempt for reasons such as health or religion. Students had to submit the proper paperwork to the school district in order to prove they are exempt by Wednesday. The Rochester School district said the decision to prohibit students from attending class that did not have official documentation that they received their vaccines is simply enforcing a state law.” It sounds like the school had a choice to comply with the law or not. Even if they were told by the state they don’t have a choice, they do. The school has chosen to comply with coercing students into getting measles, tetanus, mumps, and chicken pox vaccines, which contain things such as mercury or aluminum and cause m...

The Tibetan New Year: A Firebird Rises

Image
While most of us celebrate the New Year on January first, Tibetans in the Shambhala tradition just kicked off a lunar New Year on February 27 th which lasts several days, including celebrations into March. This lunar New Year is revered as the Year of the Firebird , and we’re in for quite a ride, according to ancient Tibetan astrology. The Tibetan lunar New Year is calculated according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, using ancient knowledge of astrology, and changes annually to coincide with the lunar cycle. Tibetan and Chinese New Year start on different dates. The fire cock (or heaven bird ) in the Tibetan tradition represents Venus and Jupiter, with qualities emphasized for the duration of the year such as: idealism, intelligence, precision, organization, self-confidence, and the perfection of skills and intent. This year and every lunar year marks an opportunity to become more mindful, and to reflect on the events of the previous twelve months. The New Year is also known as ...

Device is turning car exhaust into ink that you can write with, while pulling pollution out of the air

Image
A revolutionary new technology is allowing scientists to turn the carbon dioxide (and other pollutants) released from car exhaust into ink. Literal ink. Yes, I know. The company spearheading the initiative is called Graviky Labs and, according to their website, they have cleaned 1.6 trillion litres of air so far. Obviously pollution is a problem and, “Graviky has developed  KAALINK , a retrofit technology which captures carbon emissions from vehicles or chimneys before it enters our atmosphere,” the company states. The device “captures 95% of the particular matter pollution without inducing back-pressure.” The device is now available for private demonstrations. So what do you think of this technology? Let us know in the comments! h/t via  Minds The post Device is turning car exhaust into ink that you can write with, while pulling pollution out of the air appeared first on The Mind Unleashed .

Google’s New Robot Can Aggressively Leap Over Almost Anything: But For What?

Image
A new robot created by Boston Dynamics, owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, is possibly the most agile and aggressive one seen yet. The video of it leaping over obstacles already has millions of views. The official video says: “Handle is a research robot that stands 6.5 ft tall, travels at 9 mph and jumps 4 feet vertically. It uses electric power to operate both electric and hydraulic actuators, with a range of about 15 miles on one battery charge. Handle uses many of the same dynamics, balance and mobile manipulation principles found in the quadruped and biped robots we build, but with only about 10 actuated joints, it is significantly less complex. Wheels are efficient on flat surfaces while legs can go almost anywhere: by combining wheels and legs Handle can have the best of both worlds.” According to Zero Hedge : “One year ago, when we showed readers the SkyNet-like robots produced by Boston Dynamics, a company acquired by Google in 2013 (which then tried to flip it t...

These Photos Prove That the End of Privacy Is Already Here

Image
Do you really think you have privacy in today’s world? If you do, then a social experiment conducted by a Russian student may make you reconsider. Nowadays, it’s a common thing to share one’s private photos on social media. I believe that it’s difficult to find a person who has never taken a selfie or hasn’t shared any details of their private life online. Moreover, those who choose to stay away from this selfie craze may even be considered some kind of weirdos. It’s not “normal” anymore to keep your life for yourself – you are supposed to share your experiences with the illusory world of digital “friends.” These phenomena of modern society inspired Russian photography and art student Egor Tsvetkov to conduct a thought-provoking social experiment titled “ Your face is big data ”. For the purpose of the experiment, he took photos of 100 random people on the Moscow subway. Egor says that the majority of them didn’t even notice that he was taking pictures of them – most of them just...

Deep State Neuroscientists Believe They Can Turn Off Free Will

Image
Neuroscientists have argued whether we even have free will, but now they want to turn it off. The Libet Experiment In the 1980s scientist Benjamin Libet conducted an experiment. He ‘discovered’ that what seems to be free will or the conscious choice to do or not do something is really just the observance of something that has already happened. This completely rocked the foundations of what most thought of as a prerequisite for being human, and the long-held religious view  that free-will must always be honored. Libet recorded people’s brainwaves as they made spontaneous finger movements while looking at a clock. The participants in the study were to tell researchers the time at which they decided to wave their fingers. Libet found that there were several milliseconds of preparatory brain activity prior to the time that people reported the conscious act of waving their fingers. His findings were taken as gospel that free will did not exist. Now we call this preparatory action ...

24 Powerful Keys to Transcend the Ego

TheEgo is the central figure of our personal history , based upon the past and looking into the future. It is a dissatisfied, possessive small ego that often makes our life a misery. It is for certain that this small ego–or, more precisely, what we believe is our Self, our Ego–coiled up tightly in the back of our mind, is responsible for a tremendous amount of senseless and unnecessary suffering and destruction in the history of mankind. On our spiritual Journey arises the question, how we transcend the Ego ? Here are 24 Keys to transcend the Ego Key 1. The Ego is not bad, it is simply unconscious. Key 2. The Ego is responsible for the integrity of the personality, for our inner well-being. Key 3. The Ego only pursues its own dreams and ambitions, and so it very often embitters our life. Key 3. The components of the Ego are thoughts, emotions, memories (with which the person identifies as “my story”), fixed unconscious roles and collective identifications (nationality, rel...

Australia to Give Fish Herpes, Annihilate Invasive Species With Biowarfare: Scientists Protest

The Australian government is going to spend $11 million giving herpes to its carp population in an effort to annihilate the invasive species, inviting criticism from scientists. It could cause “catastrophic ecosystem crashes,” constituting “a serious risk to global food security,” as researchers warned in an academic journal called Nature Ecology & Evolution. According to Foreign Policy.com : “Australia has a serious carp problem. The country imported European carp for fish farming in the 1850s, but some were accidentally released into the wild in the 1960s. Since then, their population has exploded and now millions are clogging up key river arteries. The fish now constitute over 90 percent of the aquatic biomass in Australia’s largest river system. They’re destroying the ecosystem and starving out native wildlife in the process, costing the country an estimated $500 million a year in economic impact. So last year, the government came up with an idea to eliminate the fishy ...

Ashton Kutcher Testifies as Thousands of Sex Trafficking Busts Occur

Image
The actor Ashton Kutcher recently testified before Congress. Many are unaware that the press-dubbed ‘ pretty ’ boy who once dated actress Demi Moore, and that now has two children with actress Mila Kunis is also an active voice against human sex trafficking. Kutcher is the co-founder of Thorn , an organization that has developed software to reduce human sex trafficking violation investigations for law enforcement from three years to three weeks. In his emotional testimony before members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he thanked the leaders in the fight to expose the magnitude of the problem, and talked about the importance of stopping the inbound and outbound pipelines which lead to sex abuse of women and children. Kutcher tearfully said, “I’ve seen things that no person should ever see. I’ve seen video content of a child that is the same age as mine being raped by an American man that was a sex tourist in Cambodia. This child was so conditioned by her environm...

NASA Reveals Largest Batch of Habitable Planets to Date Around a Single Star

Image
NASA has spent years refuting the idea that life could exist anywhere else in the solar system , let alone our galaxy, yet, today NASA is proclaiming that not one, not two, but SEVEN potentially watery planets are rotating around a single star in a solar system not far from ours – a veritable copy-cat of Earth, and other planets in our solar system, perfectly capable of supporting life as we know it. Artist rendition of Exoplanets. Credit: NASA As far as mainstream astronomy is concerned, this is a veritable treasure trove of life-supporting exoplanets. It is even more interesting that these exoplanets are all “earth-sized.” NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope has uncovered the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star . Several of the newly discovered planets are well within what is called “the habitable zone,” the area around a parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water – as in rivers, lakes, and oceans – and a known key to life. ...

Tesla Announces Plans to Build 5 More Gigafactories to Meet Demand

Image
Tesla’s first gigafactory, massive in both size and scope, was already a massive achievement for Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, as well as sustainable energy advocates, but in a fourth quarter investor letter , Musk stated that there will not only be a new solar manufacturing plant in Buffalo, N.Y., but he has plans for three more, making a grand total of five gigafactories. Musk had already hinted that at least 200 gigafactories needed to be constructed to meet electric vehicle demand, and with this latest announcement he looks to be quite serious about making the world’s transition to sustainable, renewable energy happen much faster . Tesla’s first Nevada gigafactory, built in part with an investment from battery-making partner Panasonic, isn’t yet fully completed, and Musk also recently announced that the Nevada site will be the largest building in the world to date with an entirely solar powered roof, but that hasn’t stopped him from moving forward with his ambitious plans to make gea...

Trump Vows to Use ‘Full Extent of Government’ to Stop Human Trafficking

Image
After meeting with child trafficking experts, President Donald Trump just promised he would do his best to end the “horrific practice of human trafficking.” He stated in a press conference on the subject, “My administration will focus on ending the absolutely horrific practice of human trafficking and I am prepared to bring the full force and weight of our government both at the Federal level and other highest levels, whatever we can do, to solve this horrific problem.” Trump continued, “ Human trafficking is a dire problem both domestically and internationally .” He says it has largely been made possible by the use of the internet. Trump is likely referring to the ‘deep web’ or dark web’ which has hundreds of thousands of users. As one writer detailed in Cracked  the deep web  is a hidden portion of the web (not indexed by search engines) where sites are password protected. Membership is by invitation only. Though it is often used by drug dealers to set up an exchange, ...

Bill Gates, Admitted Eugenicist Warns Bioterrorism Could Kill 30 Million People

Image
It isn’t clear if Bill Gates was veiling a threat to help depopulate the planet by 30 million people, if he was simply scare-mongering, or warning of a true cataclysmic-level bioterrorism event, but at the recently held Munich Security Conference the man who has been kicked out of India said that , “a genetically engineered virus such as small pox could wipe out up to 30 million people in less than a year.” Gates is a multi-billionaire, and the founder of Microsoft, but he has also been a vocal supporter of questionable investments that have a profound impact on people’s lives. At one point, Gates owned 500,000 shares of Monsanto stock, and his Foundation, with an endowment larger than  all but four  of the world’s largest hedge funds, is known to have its tentacles in many programs meant to sterilize , and force toxic vaccinations on unsuspecting and indigent populations . The Gates Foundation is also heavily invested in companies that contribute to obesity, and a...
