Disrupt Censorship! How To Keep Seeing News That Matters To You collective-evolution

Image
Is it algorithms? Or maybe censorship? Or do people just not care anymore? These are the questions going through many people’s minds as it becomes increasingly more difficult to stay informed in our world. Facebook became the top source for driving news and information to people in 2015. According to Parse.ly’s chief technical officer, Andrew Montalenti, latest estimates show that social media sources (of which Facebook is by far the largest) accounted for about 43% of the traffic to the Parse.ly network of media sites, while Google accounted for just 38%. Now you might also have been hearing how Facebook’s algorithm has changed and many publishers are now seeing a decline in traffic from Facebook. There are likely a number of reasons for this and we will get to them shortly. The cries of ‘Fake News’ began hitting the internet following Hillary Clinton’s loss of the U.S. election. A scared, shocked, and tattered elite and mainstream media found out the true power of independent med

Mammograms Increase Risk Of Breast Cancer, Here Are The Safe Alternatives For Breast Exams collective-evolution

Image
You may have heard that mammograms, the tests that are commonly used to detect breast cancer, can actually increase the risk cancer. Well, you’re not wrong! Yet, these breast screenings are considered to be the most effective form of detecting breast cancer, at least according to the Center For Disease Control (CDC). There’s actually an overwhelming amount of research that proves mammograms can have a negative impact on your health and can even result in misdiagnoses. Staying on top of breast health is still important, but how can you avoid mammograms? Thankfully, there are numerous safe alternatives to this method of breast screening. Why Mammograms May Threaten Your Health If you get mammograms periodically, I would highly advise you consider alternative means of testing for breast cancer. There are numerous studies that suggest mammograms can not only be ineffective at identifying cancer, but are harmful to your health as well. To start, let’s look at the studies that test the ef

Deep State Neuroscientists Believe They Can Turn Off Free Will

Image
Neuroscientists have argued whether we even have free will, but now they want to turn it off. The Libet Experiment In the 1980s scientist Benjamin Libet conducted an experiment. He ‘discovered’ that what seems to be free will or the conscious choice to do or not do something is really just the observance of something that has already happened. This completely rocked the foundations of what most thought of as a prerequisite for being human, and the long-held religious view  that free-will must always be honored. Libet recorded people’s brainwaves as they made spontaneous finger movements while looking at a clock. The participants in the study were to tell researchers the time at which they decided to wave their fingers. Libet found that there were several milliseconds of preparatory brain activity prior to the time that people reported the conscious act of waving their fingers. His findings were taken as gospel that free will did not exist. Now we call this preparatory action of t

24 Powerful Keys to Transcend the Ego

TheEgo is the central figure of our personal history , based upon the past and looking into the future. It is a dissatisfied, possessive small ego that often makes our life a misery. It is for certain that this small ego–or, more precisely, what we believe is our Self, our Ego–coiled up tightly in the back of our mind, is responsible for a tremendous amount of senseless and unnecessary suffering and destruction in the history of mankind. On our spiritual Journey arises the question, how we transcend the Ego ? Here are 24 Keys to transcend the Ego Key 1. The Ego is not bad, it is simply unconscious. Key 2. The Ego is responsible for the integrity of the personality, for our inner well-being. Key 3. The Ego only pursues its own dreams and ambitions, and so it very often embitters our life. Key 3. The components of the Ego are thoughts, emotions, memories (with which the person identifies as “my story”), fixed unconscious roles and collective identifications (nationality, rel

The Tibetan New Year: A Firebird Rises

Image
While most of us celebrate the New Year on January first, Tibetans in the Shambhala tradition just kicked off a lunar New Year on February 27 th which lasts several days, including celebrations into March. This lunar New Year is revered as the Year of the Firebird , and we’re in for quite a ride, according to ancient Tibetan astrology. The Tibetan lunar New Year is calculated according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, using ancient knowledge of astrology, and changes annually to coincide with the lunar cycle. Tibetan and Chinese New Year start on different dates. The fire cock (or heaven bird ) in the Tibetan tradition represents Venus and Jupiter, with qualities emphasized for the duration of the year such as: idealism, intelligence, precision, organization, self-confidence, and the perfection of skills and intent. This year and every lunar year marks an opportunity to become more mindful, and to reflect on the events of the last twelve months. The New Year is also known as  Losar :

Weird Life Form Found Trapped Inside Giant Underground Crystals collective-evolution

Image
Trapped inside massive crystals deep in a Mexican cave, creatures have been discovered that subsist on iron, sulfur, and other chemicals. The researchers say the microbial lifeforms are new to science, but have been tucked away for tens of thousands of years. Should the discovery be verified, it will add to evidence that “microbial life on Earth can endure harsher conditions in isolated places than scientists previously thought possible.” “These organisms have been dormant but viable for geologically significant periods of time, and they can be released due to other geological processes,” explains NASA Astrobiology Institute director Penelope Boston .“This has profound effects on how we try to understand the evolutionary history of microbial life on this planet.” However, such a discovery does raise concerns about our search for life beyond this planet, despite the rigorous sterilization spacecraft undergo before a mission. “How do we ensure that life-detection missions are going

The Popular Yet Toxic Ingredient Found In Many ‘Healthy Foods’ collective-evolution

Image
The drive to being a health conscious person is becoming more and more common as we uncover the truth about how many of the everyday foods we eat are produced. In turn, people will stop eating these products, which inevitably forces manufacturers to use better products, or just less artificial ingredients to keep up with consumers’ demands. I believe that knowledge about refined cooking oils is the next “big thing” in the health movement for people to start watching out for and eventually stop purchasing. These oils wreak havoc on our digestive systems and certainly cause a lot more harm than good. If you have switched to coconut oil for cooking that is a huge step in the right direction, but unfortunately, these unhealthy oils are found in almost all processed and packaged foods, including those that are often marketed as “health” foods. What Are Refined Vegetable Oils & Why Are They Bad? The most common refined oils found in our foods are vegetable oils, which may sound health

How Banana Trees Are Recycled Into Vegan Leather Wallets In Micronesia collective-evolution

Image
When it comes to animal welfare, vegan leather is a big win, but its environmental impact has been heavily questioned, with many wondering which is worse for the planet — real or faux leather. Though every manufactured product comes with an environmental cost, there are many aspects involved in every phase of the production of both leather and faux leather that must be considered. The meat and leather industries are incredibly connected, and it’s been well-documented that animal agriculture wreaks havoc on the environment. In fact, the UN reports that the industry creates 18% of greenhouse gas emissions, which is more than all transport emissions combined. When it comes to leather specifically, deforestation, water drainage, and tanning are all huge concerns. Leather tanning, in fact, is one of the top 10 pollution problems in the world , with hides being tanned using a slew of dangerous chemicals that generate gallons of waste with a high concentration of pollutants. Man Drives Hours Every Day During Drought To Give Thirsty Wild Animals Water collective-evolution

Given the incredible amount of devastating news that bombards us each day, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by negativity. But there is so much good news happening every single day in the world, and choosing to focus on it may just be the dose of positivity you need to remind yourself that goodness exists. It is very easy to get caught up with looking out for ourselves — with worrying about not only our health and happiness, but our desires, too. But focusing on what we want in life, on a grand and small scale, can prevent us from ever reaching out a helping hand to boost the well-being of the environment around us. So when we see someone doing something selfless, it serves as an incredible reminder of the power of giving. Patrick Kilonzo Mwalua is an unsung hero we can all certainly appreciate. Known as the ‘water man,’ he brings water to the wild animals residing in the dry lands of Kenya’s  Tsavo West National Park . A pea farmer in his local village, he was struck by the idea

Did You Notice The Blue Ribbons & Other Political Stunts At The Oscars? collective-evolution

I love watching movies and, although I’m not really into award shows or the whole “Hollywood scene,” I decided to watch the Oscars last night. To my dismay, I found that it was less about the movies and more about American politics. Everyone seems to love bashing Trump, so much so that you cannot turn on your television or listen to your radio anymore without being bombarded by propaganda. Don’t get me wrong —  I do not support Trump. In fact, I don’t support either side, since both the right wing and the left wing are ultimately a part of the same bird, as the saying goes. I’ve simply noticed a trend lately amongst mainstream media and the public in general, which is that there’s no escape from U.S. politics, and to me this was evident at the Oscars. Oscars Acceptance Speeches That Turned Political If you watched the Oscars this year, you can probably think of  numerous  examples of propaganda during the show. Let’s start with some of the quotes from the infamous host, Jimmy Kimme

Key Facets To A World Where Humanity Can Thrive collective-evolution

Image
Instead of narrowing our focus on the misfortunes plaguing our world, let us look to the future with bright eyes and open minds. This article is a list of technologies and present innovations  — of realizations and higher vibrations. We, as a collective, can either get sucked into the spiraling delusion of doomsday, or we can soar into the future with power, passion, and freewill  — deciding for ourselves the future of humanity. Artificial Intelligence This newly developed applied science of formula and invention has bestowed each human being with a second brain to help us solve, create, and teach. Thinking machines have transformed our society. But let’s remember, machines will not solve all of our issues, and we’re not after a world of transhumanism. But machines can help us thrive in automation, allowing us to have many basic needs met and use our time to enjoy earth, contribute to community and explore our gifts without the incessant need to work just to survive. The ‘Uber of Recycling’ Is Igniting A Green Revolution in Chile collective-evolution

Image
For me, recycling is as easy as separating my recyclables from my trash and carrying then to the trash bin in my alley marked with the green emblem. But it’s not that simple for everyone, and so glass, plastic, paper, and more are tossed on the streets or buried in dumpsters. Most of us encounter trashed recyclables every day and keep walking, but some people see such waste and do something about it. Engineering student Cristián Lara and his friends noticed one such person back in 2015, witnessing, after finishing a soccer game in Santiago, an older male sifting through a dumpster in search for recyclables, then loading them onto his bike. Lara found out the man had been doing this for 10 years, and yet was still living in poverty. The encounter turned on a lightbulb in Lara’s head: What if there were a way to directly link up the recyclables collector with the overwhelming amount of waste streams in Chile, along with companies that pay well for the recyclables? Knowing something ne

Shocking Fast Food Statistics & How You Can Begin To Eat Better collective-evolution

We all know that people are eating a lot of fast food, and in many cases a lot more than they should! In fact, some experts recommend no fast food at all, as it virtually isn’t going to do your body any favours – even if you are choosing the so-called “healthy” options on the menu. It appears that the health conscious community is growing, so surely this number has gone down, right? Well, actually not! I’m from a very small town in Northern British Columbia, and when I heard that a Burger King was opening I was in complete shock. I just didn’t realize that these restaurant franchises were still on the upward climb and that people were choosing to eat this food enough to make it worthwhile for companies to continue opening new locations. I guess because of the way I have been eating over the past several years I’ve been living in a bit of a bubble and have been unaware of what everyone else is up to! I decided to look into this a bit more and find out just how much fast food is still
